Senior Manager Corporate Finance

The Senior Manager Corporate Finance oversees the activities of the junior corporate finance managers and supports further development of the corporate finance department through the delivery of high quality financial services across the business. The Senior Manager Corporate Finance deals in matters such as, sales, mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, among other general finance matters.

The Senior Manager Corporate Finance Manager supports the Head of Corporate Finance in departmental strategic decision making and policy formation in order to maintain a high performing department and build a high-achieving team.

Objectives and Responsibilities of the Senior Manager Corporate Finance

Financial Management: The Senior Manager Corporate Finance plays a key role in the business’s finance team by implementing new revenue recognition standards in matters such as contract formations, technical accounting issues, coordination of stakeholders, drafting of white papers, and the update of business’s accounting policies.

In this position, the Senior Manager Accounting also performs research on technical accounting issues and educates finance department personnel as necessary in order to ensure compliance with both external and internal finance/accounting regulations. The Senior Manager Corporate Finance also maintains the necessary internal documentation and evaluates issues of non-compliance across the business.

He also regularly updates accounting procedures and policies alongside the Head of Corporate Finance in addition to implementing process improvement and efficiencies, acting as a point of contact for all accounting matters.

Financial Strategy/Modeling/Advising: The Senior Manager Corporate Finance will also provide technical accounting expertise and guidance that is related to the business’s financial operations and transactions. This is inclusive of reviewing newly issued accounting pronouncements for impact to the business as well as providing consultation that ensures compliance with the existing and accepted accounting standards within the business.

The Senior Manager Corporate Finance will also provide assistance and guidance as necessary for financial reporting across the department in order to ensure that all financial reporting and analyses are in compliance with relevant authoritative accounting policies. The Senor Manager Corporate Finance works alongside the Head of Corporate Finance in developing departmental financial strategies.

Finally, in this capacity the Senior Manager Corporate Finance provides advice as needed in special business projects, ensuring alignment with growth opportunities for the business.

Support/Collaboration/Relationship Management: The role of the Corporate Finance Manger is a collaborative one and in this position he works with numerous departments across the business, inclusive of, business development, accounting departments, product departments, among others, supporting transaction such as mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, structuring transactions, due diligence, and price allocations.

He also works closely with the business’s external auditors in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining the business’s integrity in the industry by ensuring compliance with state regulatory legislation and policies. The Senior Manager Corporate Finance works with senior finance leadership and key stakeholder integrating newly acquired operations into the business and forming financial strategies with a primary focus on accounting and finance issues.

The Senior Manager Corporate Finance acts as the finance department’s coordinator and point of contact for external accounting firms in matters of taxation and accounting/auditing.

Knowledge and Opportunity: The Senior Manager additionally develops and maintains an understanding of the business’s financial policies and procedures across the business, ensuring that they are aligned with generally accepted accounting principles and state legislation. He also proactively provides insightful recommendations to the business on opportunities realized form his own personal research initiatives.

Other Duties: The Senior Manager Corporate Finance also performs similar duties as he deems fit for the proper execution of his duties and duties as delegated by the Head of Corporate Finance, Chief Finance Officer, or the Employer.

Required Qualifications of the Senior Manager Corporate Finance

Education: The Senior Manager Corporate Finance must have a Master’s degree (Phd Preferred) in Finance, Law, or Accounting. The equivalent of the same in practical experience is also acceptable. The candidate will also be better suited with CPA, ACA/ACCA certification.

Experience: A candidate for this position must have at least 5 years of working experience in a Corporate Finance position within a fast paced and dynamic environment, preferably working as a Corporate Finance Manager. The candidate will also have gathered experience working extensively in an accounting role and with treasury.

The candidate must also demonstrate experience in accounting research and internal controls and have excellent project management skills inclusive of the ability to manage multiple projects comfortably without compromising the quality of his work. The candidate will also have an ability and proven experience developing financial methodologies and models.

He will also have gathered experience and a reflex in identifying financial issues in order to be able to conduct sound financial calls in all situations.

Communication Skills: The Senior Manager Corporate Finance will have exceptional communication skills both in written and verbal form. He will need exceptional communication skills in his collaborative capacity where conveyance of information and instructions to collaborating personnel will greatly determine how effectively collaborative financial transactions are executed across the business.

He will also need exceptional communication skills in drafting recommendation and proposals for identified opportunities for senior corporate finance management, finance leadership, and key stakeholders. These reports must be clear, concise, unambiguous, and comprehensive. He must be capable of tailoring the most complex/technical messages for non-technical audiences in a manner that they can relate to and understand.

Ms Office/Software: The Senior Manager Corporate Finance must be technologically adept and possess exceptionally good computer skills, being highly proficient in Ms Excel, Ms Office, Ms Outlook, and PowerPoint, all necessary for the creation of financial reports and recommendations. He must additionally be highly proficient in the use of financial softwares such as software such as Oracle Finances, Expensify, and JD Edwards.

Interpersonal Skills: A candidate for this position must be result-oriented, have strong organizational skills, be self-motivated and proactive requiring minimal supervision, have a passion for team building, work comfortably in a highly collaborative setting, be meticulous and have a keen eye for detail, have exceptional problem solving skills, and have an ability to remain calm in times of uncertainty and stress.

People Skills: The Senior Manager must be a likable individual who has a natural ability to form strong bonds with other people. He must be a people person who has an ability to develop others. He must be confident yet approachable and relatable, making it easy for others to trust in his insights and follow his judgments.
