Careers at ATTN:
Mission
ATTN: produces political content which is compelling to the millennial generation, or those accustomed to social media. By providing access to the latest news stories the company hopes to increase engagement within communities, and start important conversations.
History
ATTN: was founded in 2014 by Matthew Segal and Jarrett Moreno. They founded the company to provide a news outlet which could take the approach of making political news interesting for the millennial generation.
The company quickly garnished interest from Ryan Seacrest, who provided $4.1 million in funding for the company at the end of 2014. With their approach of providing a political news outlet that was caught up with the times, it was not long before the company had reached 500,000 fans in 2014 as well. The company continued to receive a lot of attention, and reached one million fans in 2015.
Soon the ATTN: team realized how much the millennial generation cared about the issues that surrounded politics. It was the issues that mattered more than the actual candidates. By engaging their audience with shortened videos of ninety seconds in length, more people took interest in the political process. The company realized that there was a lack of civics being taught in many states, so young voters were in large misinformed.
In the most recent election the ATTN: team put much of their attention on voter registration, and started a campaign which included celebrities such as Usher and Mary J. Blige. The campaign was composed of videos three minutes in length, hoping to capture the attention of those with short attention spans. ATTN: continues to provide important political news stories in a way that reaches out to a tech-savvy and social media centered generation.
